Lately we’ve been splitting shakes and burgers as big as your face at Twisted Root, enjoying wine and friday night movies, playing with the big food while shopping, melting, snacking on dark chocolate covered almonds (yum!) and I made my first ever batch of homemade 3 bean beer-chili, quite successfully I might add…when in Texas!
Sunday I was craving a hamburger and chocolate milkshake sooo bad we drove all over Dallas to get one (Taylor is so sweet) and it was worth it!
I did clean my house this weekend and purchased some really great one-size-fits all woven baskets. Made for a more relaxing start to the week to have that chore out of the way.
Monday night was exceptionally nice, came home and made butternut pumpkin soup from scratch, Taylor picked up our favorite sea-salt rolls and cheese from Whole Foods and we watched my favorite movie by candlelight. Not bad for a Monday!
I am not a spring cleaner, I am a fall nester. More importantly, my apartment is a disaster right now due to creeping papers, stacks of magazine, clothes piles and general cluttered-ness that happens during summer. I’ve been in the mood this week to get organized and need to take advantage of this feeling, it does not posses me often…When I told Taylor I thought I needed organizational supplies to tackle this project, he wholeheartedly agreed, followed by “and then we can put everything in the garage!” Uhhh,no. Then I can better organize the stuff we own and use everyday in our house… ha ha. Gotta love his minimalistic thinking though.
Currently we use my large, beautiful rustic table as a mail drop area/office, and the office is used as storage. Not so good. I love this home office and would love even more a clear surface to display the flowers husband occasionally surprises me with just because he’s sweet.
I have always shaken my head when discussing men’s ideas about decorating. It can be summed up in one word: blue. Done deal. Paint a wall some hideous shade of not-quite navy and re-arange your ratty college furniture to suit your lifestyle (translation: which angle should the one arm chair I own face to better play Xbox). But lately, I cant help but love the idea of blue as the main color accenting my someday house. Take it down a few shades to a calming spa blue and you’ve got a vibe that’s instantly relaxing and sophisticated.

So happy it’s my favorite day again! Just had lunch with the husband (our works are pretty far apart, so this is a rare treat!) looking forward to a relaxing friday, pool time, lots of ice cream as it heated back up down here and trying to see the new Batman movie (Ann Hathaway as catwoman – love her!)…early Sunday morning may be our best bet. Enjoy your weekend!
I have been checked out the last couple of weeks, feeling very busy and I can’t put my finger on why…but I am going to remedy this feeling by treating myself to my favorite evening! I am going to go home, pull out all my Nancy Meyer’s movies and have a beautiful character/set-design marathon and bake for me and the hubbs! (Well, no-bake pumpkin trifles, and it’s not even fall, don’t ask) Talk about a hump day treat!
